Sheep worrying.

On Tuesday 2nd December 2025 PCSO Mike DODD and PC Lucy WYATT went to Pets at Home where they spoke to dog owners regarding sheep worrying.

Many dog owners are unfortunately not aware that if a dog chases a sheep then it is likely to lose any lamb that it is carrying, and dogs that the owner think to be friendly are quite capable of suddenly chasing a sheep and killing it.

The message that Police gave out was to keep dogs on leads wherever there are sheep around, and that when walking on moorland you may often come across sheep, and so to keep your dog on a lead when walking across any moorland.

Leaflets and letters regarding this were handed to dog owners together with a bag of dog treats.
